Four Letter Words - 613 Avenue Create Challenge

Hello, Crafty Peeps!
This week at 613 Avenue Create our Optional Twist is Paper Piecing. Click HERE for tutorial. What a great way to start off the week!  Our wonderful sponsor is Squigglefly!  They have some fabulous images and I knew immediately which one I wanted to use.

This is only the second time I have done any paper piecing.  It is not a technique that immediately comes to mind when I start working on a project. When I saw this image I knew it would be perfect for the technique.

I will definitely have to use this technique more often.

Hop on over and add your creation.  Remember we are an Anything Goes Challenge, so if you don't paper piece, no problem.  We would love to see your project.  You can submit up to three entries.

The most difficult decision in this design was the placement of the image.  The original plan was to do a shadow box design and to place the image inside.  I was playing around with my memory box frame dies and I realized I could get the effect I was looking for without the hassle of creating a shadow box.

The paper piecing made coloring easy.  I colored the hair and exposed areas of the image but left the washboard and bucket uncolored.  I added a thin layer of Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint to the tub and the exposed corner of the washboard.  The sentiments are inked with TH DI Vintage Photo.

The hardest element to execute properly was the clothes line.  I wanted it more taunt, but I didn't like the look of the clothes pins directly in front of the Laundry Room sign, so I let it droop a little.  I guess the element with which I had the most fun was creating my suds. Alternating layers of glitter glue, clear gel tacky glue, and Mixed Berries Fairy Dust glitter, creates a 3D effect that is pretty cool.

Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater - Outlawz Greetings Challenge

Hello, Crafty Peeples!  It has been a minute since I posted a challenge.  It feels good to be able to create again.  Okay, so this week at The Outlawz Challenges, The Greetings Team is challenging you to create a project that includes a pumpkin!
Since I do not celebrate Halloween or Christmas, this time of year is always interesting for me.  I usually end up doing a lot of fall themed projects or a lot of Thanksgiving cards.

This challenge gave me the opportunity to use a favorite image from my ever increasing supply of digis.  One of the few images I have colored and actually liked the outcome.  Hope you like it as well!

Thanks for dropping by!

Correction:  This lovely image is by Squigglefly,  I have used it several times, because I enjoy coloring it,  I think it is the wonderful balance that really draws me!
I was so pleased to find the little brad with the pumpkin in the center!  And I just loved using this paper that I have had for over a year.  My current focus is mixing papers which has lead to me making some wonderful discoveries in my (Extremely Large and Exceedingly Fast Growing) 6"x 6" Pads collection.
These wonderful leaves were made using vellum and TH Distress Inks.  There is a link at the bottom of this post to the Tammy Tutterow Tutorial.  I had the leaves straightened, but they began to curl again as we were setting up the photo shoot.  I love this technique and plan to use it for other embellishments.

I just received this little Acorn Stamp last week, so timely!

All Geared Up - Shopping Our Stash

Hello, Crafty Peeps!
This week, at Shopping Our Stash,  the challenge is to use Two Types of Embossing!  My initial thought was to emboss strips and do a basket weave, but I was short on time and had to come up with something that could be easily and quickly done!

I decided to do Dry Embossing and a Wet Embossing.
The Gold Gears were cut from Kraft paper and then embossed with Gold Embossing Powder

The burlap and card stock used to make the banners, were  leftovers from a previous project  I had paper clipped them the to black card stock scrap..  I When I grabbed the black card stock to use as a layer, I noticed how well they worked together and decided to make banners. The printed burlap is probably the elevating element.

I never do well with Man Cards, but this turned out pretty nice and I wasn't really thinking of a man card when I was working on it.  This project really put itself together because all these pieces were lying on my very untidy drafting table!
